Confirmed: ShotSpotter Technology Increases Surveillance and Policing of Black and Latine New Yorkers, While Failing to Reduce Gun Violence,

Data obtained from the NYPD through a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request shows the Department has wasted over 54 million dollars on unreliable gunshot detection technology, with predominantly Black precincts seeing twice as many false alerts as the city average.
